A Week with Windows

Four Peace Corps volunteers, nine Ukrainian students, four Ukrainian Eco Club staff, and one volunteer from Germany
set out for a week of work at this boarding home for deaf children in central Ukraine.

Our task was to add insulation strips to all the windows.

Moji (yellow shirt) rode his bike 300 K to be here.

Ira (center) dutifully siliconed each window. (that is about 120 windows).

Olya helped with the work, while helping plan the whole week, including meals and cultural excursions.

The kids helped, too. And made it easy to remember why we were here.

The kids enjoyed seeing their pics on my digital camera.

This castle (remnant) was built by the Polish Ostrosky royal family, for whom the town is named.

The town also has it's share of golden-domed churches.

This building was a synagogue from the 15th to 18th centuries.
