New Years in Kazakstan

My flight to Almaty was full of election observers from the European Network of Election Monitering Organizations (ENEMO).

This is the old airport, sitting closed next to the modern looking one.

I met my friend Genice, who was in Kazakstan to adopt her daughter. Here, we are checking our email in the Ramstor mall.

On New years eve, many vendors are selling fireworks.
