New Years in Kazakstan
My flight to Almaty was full of election observers from the European Network of Election Monitering Organizations (ENEMO).
This is the old airport, sitting closed next to the modern looking one.
I met my friend Genice, who was in Kazakstan to adopt her daughter. Here, we are checking our email in the Ramstor mall.
On New years eve, many vendors are selling fireworks.
On New Years day, we walk around Almaty.
I notice the ORANGE.
One of two Orthodox churches in town.
The sign reads "Fat Tax" in cyrillic.
A beautiful mosque, which we see on our New Years day walk.
Some nice tile work.
A tree in the courtyard.
Crowd near the bus station, just like UKraine.
Looking for the place to register my passport and visa, I get lost and stop to ask for directions.
Let's go get the baby!
